Thanks to everyone who gave your suggestions and guesses on my last post. I think I'm going to lighten it up with some paint and use it as a cupcake stand.
Whew, I've really been busy this week, finally painting some of my stuff. Trying to get my Etsy shop stocked up for the Christmas rush that will be here before I know it. This is a BIG deal to me because I'm a huge procrastinator. Like HUGE. That's why blogging is so good for me. It really motivates me to get things accomplished so that I can post about them.

That's why I started this blog, but now, after 6 months at it (wow), it's also about the friendships that I'm forming within this crafty community. I have "met" some ladies that I really enjoy chatting back and forth with a bit. You see, in real life, I really don't have any friends around. I've got plenty of acquaintances, but my closest friends have all moved away. There's nobody around here that really shares my passion for what I'm doing, and so I spend a lot of time alone.
I'm proud to say though, that my sister, who just had a sweetums baby girl in July, told me last week that she's considering getting a sewing machine. I almost pulled an Elaine Benes and hit her with a "GET OUT!!!" (Hopefully, you guys have watched a Seinfeld episode or two, otherwise, you won't be able to picture it) She has been the most anti-craft person I know and now she's been bitten by the DIY/craft bug. I'm hoping that my sis and I can start crafting and thrifting together.
Also, in a couple of weeks, I'm meeting Leslie from Goodbye, House! Hello, Home! (if her foot allows). She lives just a few minutes away from me and we've been e-mailing and Facebooking each other all summer. We will finally meet for coffee and thrifting. Can't wait!!
Wow, this post really got away from me. Sorry 'bout that. Here is what you should be here looking for.

Ooh I adore these! So awesome. Totally with you on the "Seinfeld" reference. So how did you get 'em so chippy? Just sand paper?
ReplyDeleteHaha! I got your Elaine refrence! That maede me laugh out loud! But, on a more serious note- I can relate to you so much. Basically everything you said in this post I am feeling.I've only been blogging for about 2 weeks and already I've been welcomed into this awesome community full of crafters! The support here is just so amazing- {you have no idea how much YOUR comments mean}. Oh, wow- this is long. More later?

cool candlesticks! what an improvement!
ReplyDeleteLove them. I just did some similar to those the other day. It's amazing how much paint can change the look for something! Great job.
ReplyDeletei love your candlesticks!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! Sorry, didn't mean to shout. It's just that I think they turned out soo great! :)
ReplyDeleteoh my gawd!!! I've seen every Seinfeld at least 5 times. It's not that it's my fav - it's Hubs. Over and over and over again. He laughs each time like he's never heard the dang punch lines.
ReplyDeleteI will admit, however, that I could just picture you - and I don't even know you! - pushing your sister as you yell 'get out'.
Anyhoo, love the candlesticks and wanted to invite you on any Sunday to Passion for Paint. I just got started with it so I'm really hoping for people who love paint projects to join in.
Thanks for the smiles tonite!
I love Seinfeld (have seen every episode a dozen times), and I love these candlesticks. I love the patina paint showing through ever so slightly. Were the original candlesticks a thrift store find? Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love these! Looks exactly like something I would do. Great job! and I totally feel ya on not having many friends that craft. I just want someone to be as excited as I am about it! Gezz. Is that too much to ask? ha. I get the "Oh my goodnes, you should sell your stuff" but nobody wants to learn...Ive offered, only in hopes of having a friend that would want to come over and give me another reason to craft (like I need anymore but hey, why not?). Okay I went on too long! haha.
ReplyDeleteKramer is my favorite... lol
ReplyDeleteAdore your candlesticks! So shabby chic.
And I agree on the blogging thing. I am a new bloggr (3 months) and now my biggets problem is having the time to visit everyone I want to.
