A Non-Fall Project

I don't know about y'all, but I'm about Fall'd out.  And really, it hasn't even felt like Fall around here until this week.  The leaves haven't even turned yet, but I've seen enough orange, burgundy and gold in blogland to last me for the rest of the year.  I don't mean this in a bad way...  I love seeing everyone's projects.  It's just visual overload, I guess.  I'm just ready for Friday which is the day I'm planning to put the Fall stuff away (until after Halloween) and pull all of my black Halloween goodies out.

This week, I've been trying to go through all of the stuff I've accumulated from thrifting and start actually doing something with it.  Most of it is being restyled and put in my etsy shop.

Here's one of them.  I don't know what this thing was before (a bow tie rack, maybe?) and I'd love to know, so if anyone can fill me in on it, I'd really appreciate it!

The before:

The after:

If you're interested in purchasing this, you can find it here in my Etsy shop.

For anyone interested, I used Folk Art craft paint in Fresh Foliage.

  1. Beautiful color! (and it is nice to have a break from all the fall ideas... but I do love fall..)

  2. Hey, I'm here from Paisley Passions.

Really cute! I haven't thought to use acrylic paint, but it's a great idea. It would give me more colors to choose from, and for small projects, it's really not much more work than using spray paint.

I'm your newest follower, by the way!

  3. That's awesome! A few years ago my sister had a booth at a craft fair selling her handmade jewelry. She didn't know how to showcase it, so I gave her a mug tree for her bracelets, and an old winerack for her necklaces and earrings. Many people remarked on the idea!

And thanks for this post. I feel bad because I haven't really done any fall type crafts, so when I link up they're just regular old everyday things. I feel like the odd man out. Glad to know someone would be on my side! ;) (If I see another fall wreath, I'm going to scream.) :)

  4. awesome! I love that you restyle things and put them in your etsy shop. Great inspiration :)

  5. Love result! It's a very useful little piece now!

  6. It could have been a bartool holder. I purchased one while thrifting for $1.50. I pained mine as well but hung all my scissors on it. Now I always know where my scissors and rotary cutter are... Check it out

  7. This is awesome! I love the color, and it looks so unique too. It would be useful as decor as well as functional for storage, I love it when things are dual purpose! Visiting from We Can Do It Cheaper!

  19. I just came across this blog entry and I know what this piece is. I was given one as a wedding gift in 1967! It held a set of measuring spoons.
