Freezer Paper Stencils

Lookie what you can do!!

I've seen these for years, but never had the urge to try it until this past week.  I did a little research and found two great tutorials that I kinda combined.

Tute #2  -  This one appears to be down today.

A few notes
  • I used the method of ironing freezer paper to the inside of the front of the shirt, to keep my paint from bleeding through to the back of the shirt.
  • This was a 100% cotton shirt from Goodwill.  Han and I tried making two more of these today with what I though were 100% cotton and there was some bleeding around the edges of the stencil.  So basically, I ruined two t-shirts.  Lesson learned is to make sure you are using 100% cotton.
  • I just used the little Folk Art acrylic paints mixed with GOLDEN - GAC 900 textile medium.  There are cheaper textile mediums around, but my Michaels didn't have any.  The GOLDEN is with the artists paints and it's about $15 a bottle.  The bottle is kinda big and so it'll go a long way.  Plus, you can use a 40% off coupon for it.

    1. So cool. I'm going to buy some textile medium today. I've been wondering what to use my 40% coupon on and I've been wanting to do this freezer paper stenciling. Yeah!

    2. LOVE textile medium and freezer paper! What can't you do with those two things?!?! I found Americana textile medium at my Micheal's. It was in with the acrylics. http://envirocraftiness.blogspot.com/2010/09/fall-stenciled-pillows.html
