The Pups

This is Dax.  She's the dog this blog is named after, obviously.

I got Dax when I first started dating Charles about 7 years ago.  My family had dogs when I was growing up, but they were mostly hunting dogs so I didn't really hang out with them much.  I consider Dax to be my first dog.  I adopted her from the animal shelter as a puppy.  When I went to choose my dog, I was immediately drawn to the Dalmatian-looking puppies.  There were two left out of the litter; one male and one female.  Per the sign on the cage, the male was the one with the black circle around its eye.  This was the one I chose.  After about 9 months, I started to wonder why my male dog was still crouching to pee.  *Turns out, Dax was a she and not a he.  This is why she's got such a masculine name.  We didn't want to confuse her so we just let her keep the name.

A little over a year ago, we added to our family.  I've always loved Dachshunds.  Charles, not so much.  I had to BEG for this sweet little baby.  She's the funniest little thing and now Charles loves her too.
This is an older photo of Molly wearing a sweater I made.  I think she was about 12 weeks old.  We don't have any of her by herself since then because we can't get her to sit still long enough.

Here are a few shots of them together.

*This isn't the first time this has happened.  Someone once gave me a cat and told me it was a female so I named it Lucy.  About a month later, I discovered Lucy had balls.

  8. I love Dax and Molly! Just this week a little puppy came wandering into our lives. Seems like he was abandoned. But now he has a new home with us!! His name is Beans and he's a sweet loving little pup.

  9. I just found your blog. We have a dog named Pepper that we got from a shelter about 7 years ago and she could be the twin to your dog. I know that Pepper and her siblings were left in a parking lot in a cardboard box. We got her while on a trip and I think it was at a festival where the group was set up either in NC or maybe eastern Tennessee.
