*** I've edited this to add that it is Sept, five months after I posted this, and this thing is still kickin'!
We have a little corner on our kitchen counter that is dedicated to coffee. Charles is a dedicated coffee drinker so we thought he needed his own coffee station. As you can see, we have white builder-grade counter tops (sad, sad). This means that the coffee station counter gets a lot of coffee stains. I'm constantly having to bleach the counter to get it clean and then the next day... more coffee stains. I made this to help fight the stains.
I bought a 12x12 ceramic tile and decoupaged some scrapbook paper to the top. I did have to cut the paper down just a bit. I used rubber bumpers on the bottom to keep the counter from getting scratched up. Now when I get coffee stains, all I have to do is wipe the coaster off!
* Edited to add that you're going to have to let this cure for several days or else you'll have cups sticking to it.
** Edited again to add that if you're having a problem with mugs sticking, you can add a coat of polyurethane.
