Memorial Day

I hope everyone has a great holiday, especially those who have or are serving our country.

Here's my little patriotic project.

This had been hanging around my local GW for a few months and I finally broke down and bought it on a 50% off day.

I loved the actual piece, but I just wasn't digging the cheesy red and blue stripes on the frame.  The piece looks vintage, but those stripes were too bright and just took away from the vintage feel.  I painted a few coats of an oops paint sample over the stripes and then sanded the edges a little.  I brushed over the frame with a some Polycrylic mixed with a little instant coffee to kind of dirty it up. Charles somehow rigged it up on our front door and this is where it will live all summer.

I've been working on a few things this week and am almost finished with a couple of them.  One is a biggie that Charles and I decided to tackle yesterday afternoon at the spur of the moment.  Hoping we get it finished today so I can share it!!

  1. I'm with you! I love flag stuff but it's so hard to not make 'em too cheesy! Good call on painting over the stripe! Love it.

Did you finish the other project, or did the sun go down too fast?
